Weekend Trip Essentials

February 14, 2020

Hi all! All I can seem to think about lately is how excited I am for the warm months coming up and how much I love weekend getaways. I shared a few days ago on Instagram that one of the travel facts about me is that I absolutely adore weekend trips. It’s so much fun to immerse yourself in a new city even if it’s just for a few days. Great and I love to take weekend trips that are local to us, or even a decent drive away. I wanted to share some of my favorite items to bring with me on a weekend trip!

Weekender Bag

I found this bag on Amazon about a year and a half ago! Ever since the first trip I used it on, I haven’t looked back. I love that it comes with handles to hold as well as a strap to carry on your shoulder. Another amazing feature is that it has the capability to slide onto the top of your suitcase!

Reusable Water Bottle

I have been on the reusable bottle train for quite a while, so this a staple for me not only on weekend trips but every day. A Hydro Flask is my go to, but there are so many other options! Another one that I love is this Camelback Water Bottle. It’s very lightweight and easy to pack. Having a water bottle with you is so much easier rather than having to find a place where you can buy a single use plastic bottle.

Packing Cubes

Packing cubes may not seem like something that is a necessity for a weekend trip since you don’t require too much stuff. I agree! There are 2 parts of my packing cube set that I use. The first is the shoe bag. The other item that I use from the set is the toiletry cube. I am able to fit absolutely anything and everything that I could need for my weekend trip. Whether you are only bringing a few items or an entire skincare routine, it fits it all.

Toiletry Items

Going along with the toiletry bag, there are a few items that I always throw in my bag. One of those is wrinkle spray! Travel sized wrinkle spray is such a lifesaver for any travel situation. It helps to get out the inevitable wrinkles that always happen when you pack clothes. Another must have product is sunscreen. Sunscreen is necessary no matter what the weather is, you always need protection! My favorite face sunscreen is either Epicuren Zinc Oxide Perfecting Sunscreen SPF 27 or Coola Classic Face Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50. For my body, I love the Coola Classic Body Organic Sunscreen Spray SPF 70.

A Book

I have been a bookworm since I was little, and nothing has changed. Books are such a lightweight and easy thing to pack and pull out whether you are relaxing by the pool or driving on a road trip! Some of my favorite books include The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen and Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis!

Sunglasses

Sunglasses have been quite a struggle for me. Since I wear glasses on a regular basis, sunglasses are tricky. I typically buy non-prescription sunglasses to wear at the beach or in the car since prescription sunglasses are so expensive and I don’t want to damage them. I don’t have any that I love right now, but I have heard great things about these oversized ones!

Snacks

Snacks are a necessity all the time. Every day! One of my favorite sweet snacks is the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups from Trader Joe’s. They are the perfect amount of sweet and salty! Another go to snack for me is Milton’s Gluten Free Crispy Sea Salt Crackers. These have been some of my favorite crackers since I found out that I have celiac disease. They are super light and have tons of other flavors as well!

I hope that these suggestions can help you pick out your own weekend trip essentials. Let me know in the comments what your go-tos are for a weekend trip!
